Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, the most intact remaining WW1 aerodrome in Europe, held a celebratory weekend of events in commemoration of the centenary first operational flight to take place at the site.

On 17 and 18 September the skies above Stow Maries played host to the sounds of roaring aircraft as the WW1 aerodrome took visitors back to the days of early aviation. The Town Mayor, Cllr Richard Miller, was pleased to be invited to meet relatives (pictured) of those who served at the aerodrome during the First World War when it’s function was Home Defence. An added attraction was a performance of Music Hall classics by the very talented ‘Marie Lloyd’ in true fashion (pictured)!
