On a bright but chilly day, the Mayor donned gardening gloves to assist in planting 500 crocus bulbs in the Prom park with the Rotary Club and members of the Maldon in Bloom team to raise awareness of Polio in conjunction with the Royal Horticultural Society.
The Invitation to the Costermongers Harvest Festival is always eagerly awaited as the event in the Guildhall, London followed by a service is one of the spectacular events in the London calendar and involves all the dignitaries from the London Boroughs as well as a few more ‘ provincial’ mayors.
The Annual Mayor’s Civic Service was this year held at St. Mary’s Church, Maldon with a large number of civic guests and local organisations filling the pews for a lovely service led By Fr John Dickens. A tea was served afterwards for the 200 plus congregation.

The Mayor’s Charity 007 Casino night proved a success with seventy people attending a transformed Town Hall with casino tables, live band and magician making it a memorable night for all. There were many prizes donated by local companies and the monies raised will go towards the Mayors nominated charities.
Cards for Good Causes was opened in the Maldon Town Library in November with a large range of local and national charities cards available to purchase in the run up to Christmas. This is an annual event in the Town and raised much needed funds during the three week stay in the library.
