Town Mayor presents Rowing Prizes

The Town Mayor was pleased to attend the RNLI Rowing Race event held at Maldon Quay and Maldon Little Ship Club. She judged the fancy dress competition and then presented the prizes to the winners.

Wreath transferred to cemetery

At the beginning of January the Town Mayor transferred the poppy wreath laid in memory of Private Frederick Corbett VC at Maldon War Memorial on Remembrance Sunday to his grave in Maldon Cemetery.  

Local Council Award for Maldon Town Council

Maldon Town Council has gained the Local Council Foundation Award.  The Town Mayor and Town Clerk were pleased to receive a framed certificate from the Chairman of the Essex Accreditation Panel at the last Town Council meeting.

Christmas Fayre

The Town Mayor was very pleased to open Maldon Vintage Christmas Fayre which this year had 70 stalls. Despite the cold weather, it was a busy night with many people dressed up in 1940s outfits. It was also the occasion for the switching-on of the town’s Christmas lights.

School choir competition

The Town Mayor was pleased to help judge the Maldon school choir competition which took place in Bright’s Path at the end of November. Five schools took part, with St Francis School being the overall winner.

Time for Remembrance

On 11th November, Town Mayor Cllr Jeanette Stilts attended a tree-planting ceremony at St Peter’s churchyard in memory of Jean Haylock who was involved for many years in organising Maldon carnival. Plume Academy Remembrance Parade

The Town Mayor attended the Plume Academy Remembrance event at the Fambridge Road campus on Friday 10th November while the Town Mayoress attended the Mill Road campus parade.  These commemorative events were organised by the members of the cadet services.
