Sunday 2nd July was a busy one for Town Mayor Jeanette Stilts. It began with a visit to the steam tug Brent which is moored off Maldon quay. A tour of the vessel included lots of information on her history and how much money needs to be raised to get her seaworthy again. Past Town Mayors have supported this project but a lot more help is needed before the boat is fully restored.
After this came a visit to the Classic Car Show in Promenade Park. Large crowds were attracted to this annual event.
The final engagement of the day was attending All Saints Church for the Ordination of Priests for the Chelmsford Archdeaconry. Four priests were ordained by Bishop Stephen from Chelmsford Cathedral. The church was packed with family and friends of the new priests as well as parishioners from their own churches. There was also a group of church elders from Kenya with their bishop. They are visiting churches in England.
