After the welcome reception at the Town Hall, everyone met up on the promenade for `Photos in the Park’ courtesy of Mike Ovenden who was our (very patient!) photographer throughout the visit. Maldon Museum opened especially for our Dutch visitors and displayed various artefacts from previous twinning visits. Pride of place was taken by a decorated cigar presented to a Maldon host on the very first Twinning visit from Cuijk residents.
Later, there was Morris Dancing outside All Saints Church before afternoon tea was served inside for a large gathering which included several past Town Mayors of Maldon. Grateful thanks to the ladies who prepared the delicious cream tea and kept the teapots topped up.
That evening, twelve of us, including Wim and Rianne, had a seriously good curry at the Balti Bhujon while most of our Dutch visitors dined with their Maldon hosts, the latter deserving much praise for their generosity in opening up their homes with such a warm welcome.
